Shipping Complete! So who won?
about 4 years ago – Wed, Feb 12, 2020 at 08:45:55 PM

Hello Players,

Shipping is now complete.  If you live in the United States and you don't receive your package in the next week, shoot us a DM.  (FYI, 99% of all shipments also have a tracking number you can see in your Backerkit account).  If you live outside the country, it may take a couple of weeks longer.  But rest assured, they have been mailed.

We can't tell you how much we appreciate your patience and support. The feedback we've been getting on the first issue has been tremendous.  So we're going to try and get out The Game #2 quicker than we were planning.  We've bumped it up in the cue and we'll hopefully be looking at a late spring release, instead of late summer.

Now, for the game within The Game.  A good number of you were very diligent and tracked down all the clues.  The hardest one for most people to find, was the one that was in plain sight from the very beginning.  (Check the sign on the top of the taxi cab on page 6 of the sample in the KS campaign).  When assembled and arranged in the proper order, the clues formed the following URL --

http://noveldrop.com/whowillwinthegame.html

One of the first Puzzlemasters to solve it, and the winner of our random drawing was...

Mr. Schmutz from Switzerland.  In his reward package he'll find this piece of original art from Conor Hughes.

Congrats, Mr. Schmutz!

We plan on doing something fun like this for our next Kickstarter as well.  So sharpen your gaming skills and be ready to go when we return.

In the meantime, if you're looking for something to fill the Game-less Kickstarter void, you should check out Jupiter Jet from Jason Inman & Ashley Robinson.

The quick pitch on the Ringo-award nominated series is -- Kim Possible meets Men in Black starring a teenage girl with a jet pack!  But I'm going to give you two solid reasons why you should back it today.

First of all, this is a fabulous series. I've read the first volume. It's all-ages fun that you can share it with your kids... or be selfish and enjoy it by yourself.  And secondly, there are some amazing rewards left, including a script review from the incomparable David M. Booher or an art portfolio review from Mr. Miracle himself, Mitch Gerads. (I seriously can't believe these rewards are still available.)

Thank you again, players.  We really couldn't do any of this without you.  We'll be back soon with an announcement about when you can see us back on Kickstarter.

All the very best,

Charlie, Conor and Triona

Shipping almost done and prize reveal.

Hello Players,

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend.  I wanted to send you a couple of quick updates on our progress here.  While I'd hoped to get everything out by Friday, I was waylaid for a couple of days with two kids home sick from school.  That said, we're nearly done with the shipping, there are less than 50 packages left to go out.  The plan is to have those ready for drop off when the post office reopens on Tuesday.

If you solved our puzzle, (the game within the kickstarter for The Game) and emailed us the correct answer, you should also receive one of these limited edition prints in your package.

In addition, one of the lucky backers who played our game, will also get Conor Hughes' original line art for the illustration. We'll release the backer's name and also the answer to the puzzle in our next update.

Some of you have been asking us when the next Kickstarter for White Ash will be launching.  We thought it was important to finish shipping out The Game first.  Once the last package has been mailed, we'll be turning our attention back to our favorite mining town.  So stay tuned, details will be coming soon.  But  while we're on the subject of Kickstarters, so many of our favorite people decided to launch projects in January.  Starting with...

Karl Kesel who has a gorgeous looking assortment of trading cards from his SECTION ZERO and IMPOSSIBLE JONES series.

There are only 3 DAYS LEFT to back this Kickstarter.  So hurry on over and CHECK IT OUT.

Also ending in 3 days is one of the most beautiful comics on Kickstarter, Crescent City Monsters from Newton Lilavois and Gian Carlo Bernal.

If you haven't been exposed to their world yet, HEAD ON OVERto their page and take in some Bernal's stunning linework.

And finally, newcomer to Kickstarter Karla Nappi, has dropped an amazing debut project, Duplicant.

This is a fabulous comic.  It's already funded and racing through stretch goals.  I've been fortunate to get to know Karla over the last year and was given a preview read of the book.  Don't miss this one.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend.  We'll be back early next week with hopefully the news that shipping is complete.

As always, thank you for the support.  We couldn't do any of this without you.

Shipping has begun

Hello Players,

I just wanted to send out a quick update... or THE UPDATE that many of you were waiting for.  The comics arrived in Los Angeles yesterday and I got right to work sorting, packing, etc.  I'm happy to say today, the first 167 packages were mailed this afternoon.  While I won't be able to keep up that pace (a man should eat and sleep occasionally), I'm confident that all packages will be mailed by this upcoming Friday.

Thank you again for your patience.  Making comics through Kickstarter is an unparalleled privilege.  It gives creators the ability to connect directly to the fanbase that would most appreciate their work.  And a way to afford to make books outside the restraints that come with corporate financing.  It is a pact between author and reader.  And holding up our end of the bargain is one we take very seriously.   Thank you for trusting us with your pledge.  We hope you enjoy the first chapter of The Game.

PDFs are out. FINALLY
over 4 years ago – Fri, Jan 03, 2020 at 01:29:27 AM

Hello Players,

Happy New Year!!!

We here at The Game HQ are very happy to finally put 2019 and all its unexpected delays behind us.  '19 fought us all the way.  But now that we've turned that page into 2020, things have started clicking into place.  We just blasted out the link to the PDF of The Game.  As long as you filled out your Backerkit survey, you should be getting (or have got gotten) a download link imminently.

For our print backers, the file is with the printer.  We'll send you an updated ETA as soon as we hear back from them.  For now, we're anticipating beginning shipments in roughly 3 weeks.

Thank you again, we really appreciate all your patience. And as we said previously, as our way of saying we're sorry, every backer who got a PDF of The Game #1 will receive a FREE PDF OF ISSUE #2. Those will be coming your way this summer.

We hope you enjoy the comic.  Thanks again for all your support.

Here's to an amazing 2020,

Charlie, Conor and Triona

Thank you everyone for your patience.

Hello Players,

Sorry for the limited updates, I wanted to be able to give you some tangible benchmarks before I posted again.  So here's where the project is at.

After many kafkaesque delays, the pencils and inks are done. The book is now with Triona, who is wizard with colors.  She's promised that we'll have the final pages back shortly.  After that, it should only be a day to prep the PDFs before those are on their way to you. EXPECT a PDF by the end of next week (at the latest).

From there (depending on how long the printer closes for the holidays) we should only have another 2-3 weeks till the comics are printed and hit our distribution center in Los Angeles. At that point, we're going to try ship all the books out in a week.  Everything else is done (prints are printed, dice are diced, etc.) so it really comes down to how fast I can package the books.  And let's face it, do I really need to sleep more than 2 hours a night?  (I think not).

Thank you again for your patience and support, looking forward to finally sharing the first chapter of The Game with you.

Happy December to everyone,

Charlie
